Demolition work continues on the Empress Hotel as the pub portion, formerly known as Dapper Dan's, fell under the wrecking ball Wednesday. The Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation--a city-owned economic development entity--purchased the Empress for $1.3 million from Slipstream Developments earlier this year. The site is the focal point of the city's downtown development plans and will likely be the future site of townhouses or apartments.
