The Ladner Tennis Club has a long and proud history as a non-profit association in South Delta.

Since 1976 the club has been active at Hawthorne Park with membership ranging between 60 and 100 players.

"Today's members are a nice mix of youth and adult aged players with a full range of skill levels. Also, we have made several improvements at the club in recent years which has enhanced the enjoyment of the game," says Gurdip Grewal, a longtime Ladner resident and member for 30 years.

Returning members and interested tennis enthusiasts are invited to opening day on Sunday, April 29 from noon to 4 p.m. Snacks will be provided. Those attending are advised to bring their rackets.

The club's regular hours are: Tuesday and Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The club's season runs from April to September.

Amenities at Hawthorne Park include four courts, privacy/wind screening, a ball machine and lighting for evening play. The club also has a certified instructor available for private lessons.

The tennis club hosts several events, including Club Nite Play and a Challenge Ladder for all levels, Club Championships and barbecue nights.

Annual membership is $40 for students/juniors and $80 for adults.
