The 19th edition of International Bog Day is set for this weekend.

Hosted by the Burns Bog Conservation Society, the free event takes place on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Great Pacific Forum Planet Ice parking lot, 10388 Nordel Court in North Delta.

The day will feature live entertainment from a variety of local performers, singers and dancers including Doghouse, an established Delta band that performs traditional and recent Celtic and folk music. Children's group Go Go Bonkers will also perform some of its tunes, including one written specifically about Burns Bog.

Tours of the bog will run every half hour throughout the day starting at 11 a.m. with the last tour starting at 3 p.m. A French language tour is planned for noon. The tour costs $5 per person, however two-for-one coupons are available in the Optimist or on the Burns Bog Conservation Society website at www.burnsbog.org.

Each tour takes between an hour and 90 minutes.

International Bog Day also features exhibits by not-for-profit and other environmental groups, food and a Kids Adventure Tent where children can learn more about the bog and take on an environmental challenge.
