Cedar Park's fundraiser puts over $14,000 in Delta Hospice coffers

The Delta Hospice Society recently received more than $14,000 from Ladner's Cedar Park Church, proceeds from an annual music and dessert evening.

Money from the seventh edition of the fundraiser will be directed towards care the society offers through the Harold & Veronica Savage Centre for Supportive Care and the Irene Thomas Hospice.

Guests at the event experienced the talents of Carol Peters, a piano soloist, arranger and recording artist, while they were treated to tasty desserts. A guest speaker shared the experience she and her family had with a variety of services offered at the Centre for Supportive Care.

So moved by the service offerings, an anonymous donor matched the funds raised from that evening, making the grand total $14,326.08.

"We are touched by the great work of the Cedar Park congregation," said Delta Hospice executive director Nancy Macey. "We are thankful to them and the community for making this event such a valuable tradition each year. "The funds raised directly impact the comfort and care our families receive. Thank you to the anonymous donor who so generously matched the proceeds from that event... this is so remarkable."

Macey said the partnership between Delta Hospice and Cedar Park Church is important as it represents how people in the community value the services offered to family, friends and colleagues at all stages of serious illness.
