As Deas Island dancers prepare for four shows of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp this weekend at Genesis Theatre, the mentorship program is in full swing.
Senior dancers have been assisting with first-year dancers, those who are just three and four years old, in preparation for the little ones' first time on stage.
Dancers at the studio are encouraged to apply as teaching assistants, which builds a strong mentorship program.
"It's an opportunity for the senior dancers to give back and come full circle in their dancing careers," says Katie Parks, a dance teacher at the studio.
Parks says it's wonderful to see two generations dedicated towards one goal: to dance, to perform and to experience the joy of movement.
