Familiar tunes and Christmas music through the ages will fill the air at a fundraising Christmas concert tonight.
With the theme of Music Through The Ages, the Delta Concert Band and the Delta Youth Orchestra will be on stage at Genesis Theatre in Ladner.
There will also be a guest appearance by internationally known and celebrated concert pianist, Anthony Lee. He will bring a sophisticated touch to the concert with a beautiful concerto on the grand piano.
The concert will also honour a beloved founder of the Delta Concert Band, the late Edgar Dunning, with one of his favourite numbers.
The two ensembles will have close to 100 musicians on stage playing in unison for some numbers, which will be a powerful, harmonious sound experience for the audience.
This concert will be the second annual fundraiser for the Roberts Bank Lifeboat Delta Station Society, which operates the 100 per cent volunteer community lifeboat based in Ladner Harbour.
A group of professionally trained, dedicated volunteer crewmen need your support to help provide an essential service to boaters, fishers, float home residents and riverfront businesses. Funds raised contribute to fuel, training, equipment and maintenance to operate the 38-foot, all-weather lifeboat. The boat is equipped with the very latest in marine electronics.
The vessel is an important asset to assist Delta fire, police and engineering tackle tasks in Delta's waters. The crew also helps out with many community events such as cooking for Ladner's Breakfast with Santa.
Tickets are $20 and are available at the following stores: Ladner Cruise & Travel Centre, Glacier Beer and Wine, Grapes 4 U and the Telus Open Connection stores in Ladner and Tsawwassen, as well as at the door.
The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Call 604-946-7641.
