A Vancouver couple, Jen and Grant, try to live consumer and waste free for a whole year. This award-winning documentary looks at larger issues of garbage in North America, featuring interviews, and it is done with optimism, humour and inspiration. Suitable for all ages and all welcome.

?BC Guide Dog Services needs volunteers in Ladner to provide boarding homes for future guide dogs. The dog (already house-trained) will live with you for five to six months, and will generally be out training with a professional 8: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon-Fri. Staff will pick up and drop off the dog. Dog food and vet expenses are covered. The dog must be accompanied by an adult on non-training days. ?The Spirit Bear Quest, running until Dec. 31, is an exhibition of photographs by Ursula Easterbrook, documenting her journey to photograph a Spirit Bear in the Great Bear Rainforest of the B.C. central coast, starting in Tsawwassen, driving to Prince Rupert, flying to Hartley Bay and sailing to Bella Bella and then driving home. A reception, with slide show and tall tales, will be held Dec. 11, 7 - 8: 30 p.m. at Tsawwassen Library, 1321A 56th St.
?Artist Sanjoy K. Das presents "In Search of the Miraculous" at Tsawwassen Arts Centre until Jan. 7. Das' show is dedicated to the theme of "Development of Self." He uses vibrant colours and dynamic patterns in all his paintings to express the journey of self-realization.
