Incognito guitarist Rob Montgomery is setting the bar high for the upcoming Rockin' for Reach fundraiser show at KinVillage Community Centre.
"We're going to make it the concert of the year in Tsawwassen," he says.
Montgomery says Incognito will be bringing some high-energy, funky R&B to the table along with dance music.
"It's going to be a lot of fun."
Incognito has had a busy start to 2012.
"We've been busy as heck, we've been so busy the first three months of this year playing that we haven't had a ton of time to be in the studio."
The Vancouver blues and soul band plans to get some studio time this spring to release its sixth album in the fall, he notes.
The band came together in 1984 under the leadership of Montgomery and harmonica player Sherman Doucette. The current lineup features Montgomery, singer Nadine States, bassist David Barton, drummer Darrell Mayes and Steve Werbicki on keys.
States became lead vocalist in 2010 after numerous guest appearances with the group.
"She's one of the very best in the country. She's great."
Tsawwassen musician Jerry Doucette and keyboardist Ken Boychuk will also be performing at the show.
Montgomery says Doucette, known for his hit Mama Let Him Play, is "one of the best there is" and adds that Boychuk is a great keyboard player.
"We're all old friends and we thought we'd team up and do something to help the kids out there."
Local young musicians Tyson McIlroy, guitarist for The Simpson Brothers, and Carter Low are on the lineup as well.
All proceeds from the event will go to Reach Child and Youth Development Society and its campaign to build a community-based child development centre in Ladner for children and youth with autism and developmental disabilities.
"Of our $4 million goal we are pleased to say that we have made it over the $500,000 mark," says Reach Foundation chair Irene Forcier. "Donations are coming in from all over the community including ser-vice clubs, businesses and individuals, from 'piggybank' style contributions to larger cheques, and we are so grateful for them all."
Rockin' for Reach is set for Saturday, March 31 at KinVillage Community Centre 5430-10th Ave., Tsawwassen.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at both Tsawwassen and Ladner Videoland locations.
