A Summer Music and Arts festival sponsored by West Coast Community Church is set for Saturday in Ladner.
To be held at the Boys and Girls Club clubhouse on Arthur Drive, the event will feature performances by local musicians ranging in style from classical to punk/pop. There will also be an art gallery, woodcarvings, face painting and a story time.
This will be the third edition of the annual event.
The lineup of musicians includes folk singer Tyler Cheema, pop singer Beckie Hughes accompanied by pianist and acoustic guitarist Vanessa Russell, classical singer Tiffany Heering, Amie Yoshitake and her folk/rock band, punk/pop band Cold City Night and folk singer Matt Hughes.
There will be members of the Ladner Woodworkers Club demonstrating and displaying wood carving; they will also have a lathe set up to show people how to make ball point pens.
There will be a display from the Kirkland Scouts, games and crafts, as well as a storyteller from the UBC library coming to read to the kids.
A small café will be offering coffee and cookies.
The event starts at noon on Saturday at the Wintemute Boys and Girls Club, 4727 Arthur Dr., Ladner.
