That perennial favourite of local gardeners, the Evergreen Garden Club's annual plant sale, returns tomorrow.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the greenhouse and patio of the Mountain View Manor long-term care facility on the grounds of Delta Hospital.

The spring event, a tradition in South Delta since the 1950s, expands its offerings of perennials, shrubs and tomatoes this year to include a garden market with vendors offering garden related goods.

TerraLink, offering fertilizer, tools and gloves, All Things Organic, featuring worm composting systems, and Kumiko's Natural Farm Market are just some of the participating vendors.

"We've asked local businesses and garden-related non-profits to join us this year as we look to develop new ways to attract the community to the sale," says club president Hilary Sanders about the event that donates 50 per cent of its proceeds to the Mountain View Manor garden and resident programs.

Last year the event attracted over 400 people. Entrance to the market and sale is free.

Members of the club have been growing a wide range of perennials - grasses, foliage interest and flowering plants among them - that can be purchased at prices well below those found at specialty nurseries.
