Dr. Rummy Dosanjh and her eldest daughter Niyah Lalli have written a children’s book titled Dreamland.

A Ladner mom and daughter have teamed up to write a children's book.

"It's a whimsical way to get kids dreaming," says Dr. Rummy Dosanjh, who wrote the book along with her eight-year-old daughter Niyah.

Their effort is titled Dreamland and they have a book signing event planned for Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Black Bond Books at Trenant Park Square in Ladner.

The project began when Dosanjh, a family physician, was training and working long hours. It marked a way they could connect when she wasn't able to be at home for Niyah's bedtime.

Niyah says it was really fun to work together with her mom to write the story while Dosanjh says it's unique to have a creative collaboration like that with her daughter.

Niyah also mentions that anyone missing a loved one or friend can go and see them in "Dreamland."

"They might not be there in person but we still have them," she says.
