It has been a very good year for the Ladner Tennis Club.

In large part that is due to refurbishment of the courts at Hawthorne Park in April, notes club president Brad Danyluk.

“We had a lot of activity this year and I think it was a reflection of the improvement of the courts,” he says.

The club’s roots in the community date back to the 1970s and the group is experiencing growth in membership with current numbers sitting at about 50.

The club’s partnership with Delta provides members with priority use court hours, access to a dedicated clubhouse and lighting for evening play.

The tennis club’s active summer season has ended but members do play year round.

The club offers tennis enthusiasts a structured format to improve skills and the opportunity to compete in annual singles and doubles championships.

Bruce Marsh won the singles division while Marsh and Greg Thompson won the doubles division this year.

Friendly competition on the courts is balanced with a social aspect that is centered around barbecues and club events throughout the season.

Membership information is available at www.ladnertennisclub.com. The annual fee is $150 for adults and $100 for students.
