Tsawwassen's SunFest Music Festival is building on the success of a huge first year.

Organizers are planning an expanded Main Stage lineup at Winskill Park and more local artists at outdoor venues around town over the B.C. Day long weekend.

Music Fest producer and local musician mentor Dave McIroy announced that Main Stage performers will include the hot bluesrock vocal recording talents of Vancouver's No Sinner, whose singer Colleen Rennison "absolutely blew the roof off " with Vancouver Jazz Festival audiences earlier this summer.

Expanding the festival's Main Stage presence with hot new acts is a big part of McIroy's long-term plan.

"We're all about growing the festival into a music experience that will put the SunFest Music Festival on the must-see summer festival list for audiences around the Lower Mainland," he said about the cultural venture he launched last year to augment the annual Tsawwassen Sun Festival that's marking its 40th anniversary this year.

"Getting hot new talent like No Sinner to headline on the Main Stage is a thrill.

It sets the bar higher, it brings people into Tsawwassen and it's a way to introduce them to some of our amazing local musicians," said McIroy.

The 2012 Main Stage will also feature Tsawwassen's own Caitlin Toom playing with Sargent Ginger and the big rhythm sounds of locally-loved Bocephus King, a band that has done some major European touring in recent years. Commenting on the ground-breaking success of last year's festival for local music artists, Toom said, "The music festival is going to present a lot of opportunities for people, young and old, and I'm excited for that because it gives our community a chance to really show some culture and heart."

McIroy, who has recently worked with Tsawwassen's nationally recognized Simpson Brothers, points to them as an example of growing local talent.

"These guys got their start on our Main Stage and took off from there."

The festival Main Stage will have performances on Sunday and Monday of the long weekend and will be located next to the ever-popular beer garden in Winskill Park.
