BIA thankful for movie night support

Editor:

We did it again!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the many businesses who sponsored, advertised and participated, the community groups that helped and volunteered, the Delta parks and recreation staff for their help, and the public at large for supporting our third Tsawwassen Outdoor Movie Nights.

The weather played us a trick on Aug. 7 and we had to reschedule, but even so we had over 700 people coming the next night to watch the movie. The other two nights were incredible with over 1,000 people watching the shows each night.

The most rewarding part of hosting these events is watching friends and neighbours, families and kids of all ages enjoy an evening at the park or at the block party. Many people don't know that our events are unique in that we feature pre-movie festivals. Most communities just invite people to join once the sunsets and simply present the movie. At our events, we go to great lengths to feature many businesses and groups from our community in various ways including: opportunities to raise important funds and awareness of many non-profit groups, to showcase local and upcoming talent in the arts with music, sports and dance presentations and to sample a variety of products and services through interaction with the public or through ads and "trivia" on the big screen.

We invite all who attended to send us comments, feedback, photos and ideas for next year's events. You can e-mail us at biaoffice@shoptsawwassen.com or post them on our Facebook group Shop Tsawwassen. Photos of the event can be seen on the BIA website at www.shoptsawwassen.com.
