The holiday season is fast approaching and there are a number of upcoming musical performances to help get you into the Christmas spirit. Here is a listing of some of the upcoming shows:
. Join the Delta Community Choir and Tapestry, under the musical direction of Danielle Hamilton, for a performance filled with Christmas wonder, choral favourites and holiday cheer on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3: 30 p.m. at Cedar Park Church, 5300-44th Ave., Ladner. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors/students and $5 for children under 12.

. A free evening of Christmas favourites with the Delta Concert Band, Delta Music Makers and the Delta Secondary chamber choir is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ladner Community Centre, 473451st St. There will also be a sing-a-long. Admission to the concert is free but a donation to the food bank will be gratefully accepted.
. The Roberts Bank Lifeboat Society - Delta Station presents its annual fundraising Christmas concert, Music Through the Ages, with the Delta Concert Band and the Delta Youth Orchestra on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at Genesis Theatre in Ladner. Seating is at 6: 30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each. . The most festive season of the year is approaching and Cedar Park Church is inviting the community to celebrate Christmas with an evening filled with lively jazz Christmas carols. Proceeds from this event, taking place on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m., will support the Delta Hospice Society.
"We appreciate the continued support from Cedar Park Church," says Nancy Macey, Delta Hospice executive director.
The evening will be filled with beautiful jazz Christmas music and desserts. Special guests this year will include the Mennonite Jazz Committee featuring Nelson Boshman on piano and Catherine Andrews, care team leader at the Irene Thomas Hospice, who will briefly share information about the hospice.
The Christmas music and dessert evening is in its fifth year at Cedar Park. There are 180 tickets available and each year the evening sells out quickly. It is highly recommended that tickets be purchased early.

. Handel's Messiah will be hosted by the South Delta Baptist Church on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
Internationally recognized soloists will perform as this iconic masterpiece comes to Delta. The concert, produced by Calvin Dyck, will feature the Canada West Chamber Orchestra and Pacific Spirit Choir. Buy tickets at the church office or go to southdelta.org.
. The Delta Youth Orchestra has a Christmas All Division Concert planned for Sunday, Dec.
11 at 3 p.m. at Delta Secondary's Genesis Theatre. The Junior, Capriccio and Intermezzi Strings, Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra will be performing a selection of orchestral classics plus a few sounds of the season.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students 14 and older (with student card) and free for kids under 13.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents A Traditional Christmas, an evening of heartwarming Christmas music and carols, at the South Delta Baptist Church in Tsawwassen on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 4 and 7: 30 p.m. Pierre Simard will be conducting while Christopher Gaze will host the event, which features the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the UBC Opera Ensemble and EnChor.
