Local musicians Jerry Doucette and Kenny Boychuk return to the Tsawwassen Legion with their annual Christmas toy drive for Deltassist.
Next Friday’s show will feature the Doucette Band, Brickhouse, the WhiskyDicks and a few other groups, says Doucette.

“We’re going to have a good time with it this year. We always do. It always gets sold out. The people are so fantastic,” he says.

His band will be joined onstage by singer Angela Hurst and Carter Low, who Doucette describes as a really strong guitar player.

The toys go to children from low-income families through Deltassist’s annual Toy Depot program. Deltassist is a non-profit social services organization.

The Doucette Band will be headlining the show.

Doucette says he, Boychuk and Marty Hatlelid, or Guitar Marty, were at a local bar having a pint when Hatlelid came up with the idea for the event. This year will mark the sixth annual toy drive show.

“Kenny and I thought it was a great idea,” he says, adding the toy drive has turned into a big success.

“It makes you feel so good because you know all these kids are going to get a toy or toys.”

There will also be a silent auction at the upcoming show. Doucette will include a custom made Fury guitar in the auction.

He has played it in the studio and a few times on stage and says he’ll autograph it as well.

“It’s a beautiful guitar.”

The show is set for Friday, Nov. 21 at the Tsawwassen Legion, 22-1835-56th St.

Seating starts at 6:30 p.m. and the music begins at 7 p.m.

For admission bring a new unwrapped toy with a value of approximately $20 or an equivalent cash donation.

“Come one, come all and be ready to have fun,” says Doucette.
