Tsawwassen author Peter Vassilopoulos has released a new book in his series of cruising guides.

Cruising the Sunshine Coast has a large section covering the Fraser River estuary tidal waterways, the veteran boater notes.

"It's colourful, scenic and in most weather conditions, quite safe," says Vassilopoulos, noting boaters need to be aware of the spring freshet and accompanying debris.

"I feel the Fraser River is a very colourful area. To me it has a certain amount of appeal that's a bit lost because there's not enough facilities for boats to tie up," he says.

The back cover of the book notes the Sunshine Coast is among the most popular cruising destinations in the Pacific Northwest. The guide takes readers from Point Roberts and the Fraser River to Howe Sound and Indian Arm and follows the coast to Powell River, Lund and the entrance to Desolation Sound.

The guide is available at Albany Books in Tsawwassen, Black Bond Books in Ladner, most marine stores that sell books and other book stores.

Vassilopoulos has also recently released updated versions of Docks and Destinations, Cruising the Gulf Islands and Cruising Desolation Sound.
