Car clubbers wanted

The Chilliwack Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada meets the first Tuesday of each month (March 6) at 7: 30 p.m. at the Atchelitz Threshermen's building on Luckakuck Way. Newcomers welcome. For details call Barb or Ross at 604-824-1807.

Storytime for babies

Chilliwack Library hosts Storytime for Babies, an infant-focused introduction to children's stories, songs, rhymes and rhythms, beginning March 29 and running Thursdays through April. Register by calling the library's children's department at 604-792-1941 before March 7.

Friends of the library

The Friends of the Chilliwack Library meet the first Wednesday of every month (March 7) from 2 to 3 p.m. New friends always welcome.

Woodworkers meet

The Fraser Valley Woodworkers Guild meets at Robert Bateman secondary school's wood shop, 35045 Exbury Ave., Abbotsford, from 6: 30 to 9 p.m. on the first Wednesday (March 7) of each month. The group shares projects, information and learns from specialists. Visit www.fvwwg.ca.

Lace Club meets

The Chilliwack Lace Club meets every month on the second and fourth Thursdays (March 8) from noon to 3 p.m. in the Slesse Room of Evergreen Hall. Bring your lunch. Kilby fundraiser gala

Kilby Historic Site presents a Gala Fundraiser at Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa March 10. Doors open at 5: 30 p.m. starting off with a silent auction and no host bar. Enjoy the resort's famous three-course buffet beginning at 6: 30 p.m. Edith Wallace will entertain from 7: 30 until 8: 30 p.m. At 9 p.m. the evening ends as the silent auction closes. All proceeds go directly towards the preservation and sustainability of Kilby Historic Site. Tickets are $50 per person. Book sale

Chilliwack Library holds a big book blitz to clear out recently discarded books of all genres, for only $5 per bag, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Build better bones

Building Better Bones Together, a free public forum on osteoporosis takes place March 10 from 1 to 3: 30 p.m. at Lynnwood Retirement Residence, 9168 Corbould St. Irm Mathes from Osteoporosis Canada, Anita Maier from Bone Mineral Density Clinic, and YMCA Chilliwack Osteofit instructor Karen Besner will speak.

Compost sales

The Chilliwack and Sardis Kiwanis clubs hold their annual mushroom compost sales March 10 at both G.W. Graham school, at 45955 Thomas Rd., and the Salvation Army Church lot, 46420 Brooks Ave. Cost: 50 lbs for $5. Top up your flower and veggie beds. All funds raised go to help local children.

Christian sing-along

Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church, at 9800 McNaught Rd., hosts a singalong program of traditional Christian music accompanied by the Chilliwack Songs of Praise Orchestra March 11 at 7 p.m. Lively singing with special vocal and instrumental presentations. Red Cross courses

Chilliwack Chinatown talk

Historian Chad Reimer talks about his book, Chilliwack's Chinatowns: A History, March 14 from 7 to 8: 30 p.m. at the Chilliwack Library. In his book, Reimer follows dual trails of arson in 1921 and 1934 to discover a slew of historical characters and stories. Chinese, whites and natives intermingle before and after these unexpected fires: their lives of success, labour, leisure and family animate Chinatown north and Chinatown south.

Garden club meets

The Chilliwack Garden Club meets at 7: 30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month (March 14) at Cooke's Presbyterian Church, at 45825 Wellington St. This month's demo is cut flowers for the home.

Camera club meets
