Everything was five-by-five for the 32nd Annual Polar Bear Swim in Tsawwassen.
About 1500 people came out on a five-degree and overcast afternoon to witness 355-registered swimmers take the plunge into five-degree waters at Centennial Beach.
This year’s winner was Eric Gaspard who was last year’s third place winner. The farthest a field participant award went to Rex Marshall from Christchurch, New Zealand. Marshall, 72, also won the oldest participant award and was presented with the John Mitchell Award by his daughter Sandy. John Mitchell was a regular participant of the swim and had passed away last year.
