It's almost time for some spooky fun at Family Fright Fest. Set for tomorrow from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., the annual event includes a host of hair-raising activities.
South Delta Secondary Equinox Theatre students will transform the McKee Heritage House into Bates Motel. Once through the "motel," the Halloween festivities continue at the adjacent McKee Seniors' Recreation Centre where seniors have created phantasmagorical trick or treat doors.
Next door, the Wintemute Boys & Girls Club will have a Mad Scientist Lab and the adjacent Ladner Pioneer Library will host a spooky story time as well as crafts and a photo corner.
Admission is free to all the activities. Ladner's 47th Avenue will be closed to traffic between Arthur Drive and 51st Street from 4 to 8 p.m. to allow for street activities, which will include live music, face painting, popcorn, hay rides, crafts and more.
It's not the only Halloween event in town. Here are some others:
- Robyn Balabanov is back with another edition of Halloween Horror Delta on Halloween night. The annual haunted house display at 5674 Grove Ave. in Ladner will feature coffins, corpses, a witch's house, animated windows, graveyards, fog machines, monsters and "a spinning wormhole vortex." The display is open from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
- Pat McGregor already has her haunted house at 6007 Crescent Dr. in Ladner up and running. The display will be up daily until Halloween. It runs until 10 p.m. everyday, unless it's raining.
- Royce Mattice of Tsawwassen will once again have his haunted display at the ready for Halloween. This year he will also be collecting donations for the local food bank. Mattice's display opens at 6:30 p.m. at 814 Underhill Dr.
- Spooks and ghouls will visit Earthwise Society's "Haunted Garden" on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. Let the Green Witch guide you through a spooky garden, then recover with a seasonal snack from Earthwise's Earth Oven. Admission is $5, including refreshments.
- Pebble Hill Traditional School hosts Spooktacular on Friday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at 246-52A St., Tsawwassen. There will be a haunted house, cake walk, pumpkin bowling, a costume contest and more. Call 604-943-0228.
