Do you have something growing in your garden that has an uncanny resemblance to a famous person, your dog, neighbour or you?
Is there a vegetable or fruit growing in your garden you feel is absolutely flawless or strangely unusual? Do you feel you have the cutest baby vegetable?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then come to the third annual Grow Local Fair on Sept. 4 at the Earthwise Garden in Boundary Bay and enter your prize-winning produce in the Ready Set Grow contest.
The fair is a family-friendly fundraising event that seeks to celebrate the action of individuals who are either interested in or already grow their own produce.
Home gardeners and urban farmers alike are invited to participate by entering their pesticide-free produce in exhibition categories such as the prettiest tomato, cutest baby vegetable, most unusual vegetable or fruit and, for children 12 and under, best-dressed and best look-a-like.
This year all contest entries received by July 10 will win a free Earthwise organically grown tomato plant.
The family fair will also include a pancake breakfast, baked goods made from local ingredients, farm tours, live music, farm market, scavenger hunt and more.
Aug. 27 is the last day for advanced contest entries, otherwise there will be a late entry fee.
