Open house at farm store

Celebrate the holiday season at the newly retrofitted Earthwise Farm Store in Boundary Bay.

The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen has just finished transforming a space that was once a home to cows into a cozy and welcoming farm store. The Earthwise volunteers, who run the store twice a week, are really looking forward to the new, warmer location.

Earthwise invites the public to drop in for a seasonal open house next Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. Visitors can enjoy some hot chocolate and check out the selection of Christmas gift baskets for all the connoisseurs of organic goodies on your shopping list.

While you're there, select some fresh produce from the Earthwise Farm, including red and golden beets and tender baby carrots to share with family and friends at your winter feasts. Fresh, local and organic does not have to be limited to the summer.

The last day for the farm store for 2010 will be Dec. 18, from 9 a.m. until noon, marking the longest season ever for the Earthwise Farm.

Since Feb. 25, farm store volunteers have offered a wide variety of fresh seasonal produce from Earthwise, in support of the society's environmental education programs. To receive notification of produce availability and farm store hours for 2011, email info@earthwisesociety.bc.ca.

For more information, call 604-946-9828. Earthwise Society is located at 6400-3rd Ave. and is accessible by transit and bicycle.

The Earthwise Farm Store will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays until Dec. 18.
