The Delta Community Animal Shelter meets over 1,000 animals each year. Some of these animals are brought in by their owners because they can no longer care for them, some are found roaming and are unable to find their way home, while others are rescued by caring people who see an animal in need.

The variety of pets waiting to be adopted include dogs, cats, bunnies and other animals. The shelter is located at 7450-80th St. Call 604-940-7111 for more information or visit their website at www.deltacommunityanimalshelter.ca.

The following gallery shows some of the animals waiting for forever homes.

All dogs, cats and rabbits are spayed or neutered and provided with permanent identification prior to going to their new home. All animals are vaccinated and flea and worm treated while in the care of the DCAS. The costs of these procedures are included in your adoption fee.
The shelter also has a variety of bunnies including Midget. This male bunny, approximately two years old, is described as loving to be cuddled and brushed gently. He will even sit on your lap for hours.
The shelter also has guinea pigs available for adoption, including Babe (left) and Wilbur (right).

When you come into the shelter looking to adopt a cat, you will ask you to complete a 16- question Adopter Survey. This survey helps determine what type of cat personality (Feline-ality) would best match your home. All cats over nine months of age are tested with the ASPCA's Meet Your Match (MYM) Feline-ality assessment and assigned a colour. After reviewing your survey, you will be assigned a color (orange, purple or green) that matches the cat personalities that best suites the type of companion you'd like.
Available for adoption is Yummy, a 12-year-old Himalayan, tan and brown seal point, neutered male cat.
Available for adoption is Louise, a domestic short hair, calico (brown, orange and white), female (will be spayed) adult cat, approximately three years old.
Occasionally, animals in shelter require temporary foster placement. By welcoming an animal in need into your home, you will make a positive impact for that animal and its future. Foster homes are difficult to find and if you can help, the shelter encourages you to register.
