Abbotsford's first baby of the new year was born at 4: 30 p.m. on New Year's Day, reported Fraser Health. The baby girl weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces. The parents have requested anonymity.

The first baby of the new year in British Columbia was also a girl, born to Jessica Clasen and Chris Payne of Vancouver.

Isabella Marie Payne weighed in at 9.5 pounds when her mom delivered her at 12: 03 a.m. at B.C. Women's Hospital in Vancouver.
