Delta Secondary's new Interact Club is beginning to make its mark.
Late last month, approximately 40 students, five teachers and three parents assisted with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup at the Tsawwassen ferry causeway. Braving the pouring rain, club members picked up approximately 15 bags of garbage totalling 20 kilograms.
Interact is a service club for youth in grades 8 to 12 at Delta Secondary in Ladner.
It welcomes new members and meets the first and third Monday of each month in the Collaboration Room at DSS at lunchtime.
Interact Club members are currently selling Nokero Solar Lights - at $20 each - as a fundraiser to buy Shelter Boxes for communities struck by a natural disaster. The club is close to raising its first $1,000 to provide emergency equipment and shelter for those in need.
Upcoming initiatives include the Rotary Auction, gift wrapping at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall, a book drive for northern communities and a daffodil drive in April.
Interested students and parents can contact Ms.
Colls (counsellor) at Delta Secondary at 604-946-4194 local 265.
