A ceremony to officially launch the Delta chapter of KidSport took place at the Delta Sport Development Centre in Ladner Thursday afternoon.

KidSport Delta is a local chapter of KidSport BC, a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids 18 and under. Through a confidential application process, it provides grants so they can play a season of sport.

KidSport believes no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports.

In recent years, there has been an increasingly apparent need to support children with financial barriers to sport. KidSport BC has been assisting with registration fees for children in Delta by distributing approximately $10,000 to $12,000 per year. KidSport Delta was formed to continue the work in the community.

KidSport Delta believes strong communities are built, in part, by community and corporate investment in healthy active lifestyles for children.

KidSport Delta is looking for people within the community who wish to volunteer in a variety of capacities to help the organization achieve its goals. If you are interested in volunteering, contact kidsportdelta@gmail.com.

If you wish to make a donation, contact Carlene Lewall at 604-943-0460 or contact kidsportdelta@gmail.com.
