Youngsters were helping locals beat the heat this week with a pair of old fashioned lemonade stands, both of which raised money for animal charities. Left: Brendan Barth, 14, set up his stand in front of MLA Vicki Huntington's Ladner Village office. Brendan, who has a dog walking business, is raising money for Paws for a Cause. He says he'll be setting up his stand at least twice a week, hoping to raise $250 prior to the organization's Sept. 9 walk at Garry Point Park in Steveston.
