The Canadian Navy Centennial Tattoo at the PNE this Saturday will have some local flavour to it.

While groups from England (Her Majesty's Royal Marines band) and Hawaii (the U.S. Marine Corps band) are lining up to perform, the Delta Police Pipe Band will also be taking part.

"The Delta Police Pipe Band is very pleased to be participating in a celebration of the Canadian Navy's 100th anniversary," the group's website states.

There will also be a massed band salute to the Seaforth Highlanders, a Vancouver-based infantry regiment, that's marking their own 100th anniversary.

The Metro Vancouver Navy 2010 Commemorative Society is presenting the event.

Ladner's Bob Juulsen is treasurer of that society and also the president of the Vancouver Naval Veterans Band, which will be performing at the tattoo as well.

Juulsen, who plays baritone horn, served in the Canadian Navy from 1953 to 1981.

The tattoo is set for Saturday at 1 and 4 p.m. at the Pacific Coliseum at the PNE. The shows are free with admission to the fair.
