An elderly man is recovering in hospital after he was hit by a Nissan Sedan that was turning onto Scott Road from 75A Avenue in Newton shortly before noon Wednesday.

While the car had the green light, the victim was also crossing the street in a crosswalk.

"Having said that, a person in the crosswalk has the right of way," Surrey RCMP Const. Peter Neily said.
