Harris Nurseryland continued its support of Delta Hospital with a donation of over $1,600 last month. It's the first time the Ladner gardening centre's annual sale and hot dog barbecue has benefited the hospital.

"We wanted to take our annual sale weekend and make it into something good for the hospital," said Harris Nurseryland manager Ross Luchene. "It's just a great way to give back in a way that everyone will benefit."

Jackey Zellweger, the

Delta Hospital Foundation's corporate and event manager, was pleased Harris decided to put on an independent fundraising event to benefit the hospital.

"Harris Nurseryland has always been a big supporter of the community, and we are thankful that they thought of us in this year's annual sale."

Independent fundraising events are ones held by individuals, businesses, service clubs, schools and similar organizations on behalf of the Delta Hospital

Foundation. Over the last five years, these events have produced over $35,000 for the Hospital Greatest Needs Fund, which is dedicated to supporting the most vital equipment identified by the hospital's medical staff.
