South Delta Financial Group Raymond James and Re/Max Pro Group Realty partnered earlier this month to host the second annual fall Ladner shredding event to benefit Reach Child and Youth Development Society.

Despite the rain, a huge number of residents came out to Raymond James parking lot and took advantage of the service. Five tons of paper were shredded and recycled, saving an estimated 60 mature trees.

Raymond James Foundation will match the $3,469 in donations raised at the event once again this year as part of Raymond James Cares Month, bringing the total to $6,938. When combined with the $7,022 raised at last November's event, it brings the two-year total close to $14,000.

"We value our community," says South Delta Financial Group's Eleanor Calderwood, "and we are happy to help."

Reach Society executive director Renie D'Aquila said the organization is fortunate to be a beneficiary of the kindness and generosity of Calderwood,

Zahir Dossa and Vicki Chatterley at South Delta Financial Group Raymond James and of Bob Cooke at Re/Max Pro Group Realty.

Cooke, managing broker at Re/Max Progroup Realty, founded the shredding for charity event to give back to the community.

"Giving back and supporting local community projects is part of the Re/Max Progroup business model. For years, the people in Ladner and Tsawwassen have helped make our business a success and now it is time for us to give back and support various community events in any way that we can."

Volunteers from Raymond James Ladner and Re/Max Progroup Realty were on site helping folks dispose of their confidential papers. 1-800-Shredding owner Tino Fluckiger donated his time to man the shredding truck and Ladner McDonald's donated coffee to help participants stay warm.

All funds raised support Reach's Building for Children Together Campaign.

Reach has begun construction on a child development centre in the heart of Ladner.
