The Tsawwassen Pharmasave suffered extensive damage after a car crashed through the front window Wednesday morning.

According to operations manager Lisa Ramsay, a regular customer was parking in front of the store and for some reason she came up over the sidewalk and into the front of the building.

“Thankfully no one was hurt. It could have been so much worse,” Ramsay said Thursday morning while continuing the clean up and assessing the damage. “One of our employees was down the aisle near the line of fire I guess and just moments earlier went to the back to grab something, so no one was in front and no customers were walking by in front of the store.”

Ramsay said the damage is extensive.

“I was here until after 11 p.m. Wednesday night. The landlord and a restoration crew was in and they have boarded up the front of the store so it is safe for the customers walking outside,” Ramsay said.

“We are open for business. That area has been roped off and we have cleaned up and removed all the damaged merchandise.”

She estimates it could be a week or more before the damage is fixed as large glass windows have to be ordered and signage has to be repaired.

“Lots of people came by yesterday out of concern and just making sure everyone was OK,” she said. “We thank our customers for showing that concern.”

Delta police are investigating the incident.

“No charges have been laid and we are still trying to determine what happened,” said public affairs coordinator Sharlene Brooks.
