Scamming season isn't over yet.

Delta police are putting out another public alert as the department is still getting reports of Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) scammers calling residents threatening arrests from police if they don't pay right away.

In a recent incident, the potential victim received a phone call in what appeared to be from the DPD.

“The person never did pay and came in to the police department to confirm if it was us or not,” said DPD in a post on their Facebook page. “However this could have easily went differently.  We would like to remind everyone that CRA scammers frequently ‘spoof’ phone numbers to try and look legitimate.”

Some tips to not fall prey to scam artists:

• Revenue Canada does not accept payment in gift cards or bitcoin.
• You will not be arrested for not paying taxes. Our best advice is just to hang up.
• At no time do police make phone calls requiring funds for the CRA.
