Delta police officers are sporting some new arm wear these days as a show of support for Const. Jordan MacWilliams, the officer facing a second-degree murder charge following an onduty shooting two years ago.

The Delta Police Association designed the wristbands as a way for officers and department staff to show their support for MacWilliams. The blue rubber wristbands are emblazoned with the officer's badge number as well as the department's core values - Honour, Courage, Integrity, Trust.

Initially the bracelets were just made for police officers and department staff, however, they are now being made available to the public.

The wristbands are being sold for $2, which covers the cost of production.

In October, MacWilliams was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 48-yearold Mehrdad Bayrami following a five-hour police standoff outside Starlight Casino in New Westminster in November of 2012.

MacWilliams, who has been with the department for close to seven years, was a member of the Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team at the time, and one of many officers responding to the incident.

He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.

In addition to the second-degree murder charge, MacWilliams is also facing a wrongful death lawsuit launched by Bayrami's daughter.
