The federal government announced this week the Canada Summer Jobs program will provide funding to 54 Delta employers, including both not-forprofit and private sector, for 178 summer jobs for Delta students.

This investment in Delta youth is worth $557,123, representing an additional $279,120.00 above Delta's previous base funding of $258,418.

"This investment is significant to our youth and local business alike," said Delta MP Carla Qualtrough. "I am pleased to see that all applicants met Service Canada's assessment criteria and our local priorities, to some degree, and that all employers who applied for funding qualified."

The jobs created are in a range of sectors - from agricultural to environmental, to increasing physical and social competency, to trades training.

"Now is the right time to invest in young Canadians," said

Qualtrough. "These jobs will help them develop valuable skills and acquire the critical work experience they need to successfully start their careers and contribute to the Canadian economy, right here in Delta."
