Kinder Morgan faces yet another protest as it tries to move forward with its major pipeline expansion.

Protestors will begin another block of the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion early this morning.

A news release issued by a group calling itself the Justin Trudeau Brigade states they will close the pipeline construction work site at the Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby to all vehicular traffic for several hours.

“The Justin Trudeau Brigade has done this successfully twice before, once last week and once the previous week.  Vehicles turned away and work did not proceed.  Committed, thoughtful citizens will do this again and again,” the group states.

Noting delays are costing investors, the group goes on to say, “It is clear that the proposed pipeline expansion threatens ecologically and economically important marine habitats and imposes serious, life-threatening health and safety risks on human, plant and animal communities. It also violates Canada's responsibility to reduce the consumption of dirty and outdated fuels and instead to invest in clean, sustainable and economically beneficial sources of energy.”

Kinder Morgan Canada has begun work on its $7.4-billion Trans Mountain oil pipeline expansion despite continued opposition.

The National Energy Board last week ruled that the company is not required to comply with sections of Burnaby’s bylaws. Kinder Morgan complained about delays obtaining local permits needed to proceed with construction.
