Delta students are getting a lot of hands-on today in the annual Delta Trades and Technical Career Fair.

Held at the Sungod Recreation Centre, the event gives students an introduction to a variety of potential careers. In addition to the many interactive exhibits, the event also features presentations on the show stage, a job fair and even a boat race for students in grades 10 to 12 at Sungod's aquatic centre.

According to the province, economic forecasts indicate there will be almost one million job openings in B.C. by 2025, with close to 80 per cent requiring post-secondary or apprenticeship training.

The province is reaching the point where more people are leaving the workforce than entering it, which means there will be many opportunities for young people entering the workforce.
