Update:

The new Tsawwassen Mills shopping mall is giving shoppers even more incentive to line up early for the big grand opening Oct. 5.

A $50 gift certificate door crasher will be given to the first 1,000 people who enter the doors. One lucky winner will also win a massive $10,000 shopping spree.

A pre-launch campaign called Love Everything About Tsawwassen Mills has been well underway promoting the new destination shopping centre at the Tsawwassen First Nation. The grand opening will also feature live entertainment and giveaways. It will be the start of the mall’s “grand opening week” which goes until Oct. 10.

Story form Sept. 9:

Tsawwassen Mills is giving an extra incentive for shoppers to check out the new mall.

The mall is encouraging people to sign up for its newsletter with a time-limited $10 gift card giveaway.

The giveaway is part of a marketing campaign that’s now in full gear as the major retail destination shopping centre at the Tsawwassen First Nation is set to have its grand opening Oct. 5.

The “Love Everything About It” campaign recently saw pop-up shops appear in Vancouver where free merchandise was handed out. During September, a Tsawwassen Mills pop-up trailer will travel throughout the Lower Mainland, providing an opportunity to learn more about the shopping centre and its retailers, participate in contests and win free prizes.

When the first tenant was announced at the future mall site almost three years ago, Daniel Fournier, chair and CEO of Ivanhoe Cambridge, the company behind the project, said his company's $600 million mall commitment shows they are in this for the long-term.

Saying that "Tsawwassen Mills will be a truly international retail destination" as well as "contribute to the social fabric," Fournier noted they'll take the best of their CrossIron Mills north of Calgary and Toronto's Vaughan Mills shopping centres to create an even better shopping experience in Tsawwassen.
