Tsawwassen's Splashdown Park will close its doors for the last time Sunday.

The waterpark had announced earlier this year that its lease was coming to an end at the conclusion of this season.

Splashdown manager Harold Frederiks said it's definitely at the point now where "you're coming to realize this is actually it."

It's kind of sad, he said.

"At the same time, there's been lots of great experiences that have happened here at Splashdown, lots of laughter and joy and memories that have been created over the years. It's kind of a bittersweet ending," he said.

The waterpark officially opened on Canada Day in 1984 and attracted close to 100,000 visitors each summer.

There should be a 1980s feel to the park on Sunday with its Last Splash finale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Frederiks noted there will be '80s music playing, staff will have special uniforms and guests are encouraged to dress up in '80s gear.

He said the park is looking at doing some games and giveaways.

"We're definitely looking at making it a fun day and I think that's going to happen. Really, all we need is sunshine for this place, then everybody's happy."

Splashdown is at 4775 Nulelum Way. It's also open tomorrow.
