Police use witness description to nab shoplifting suspect on hwy

 

 
 
 

The following are some of the calls of interest the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Sunday, Jan. 27 and Monday, Feb. 4:

Ladner

. January 27, 3 p.m., 6000-block of Deas Island Road: Someone broke into complainant's car and stole a wallet from underneath the front passenger seat.

Entry gained by prying the doorframe. The stolen credit card was used three times. Damage to vehicle: approximately $500.

. January 30, 5: 33 p.m., 64th Street and Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant reported that her unlocked car parked on the street was entered and items stolen included a number of personal identity cards, including a credit card.

The credit card was used in three transactions in Surrey. No suspects identified at this time.

. February 2, 2: 57 a.m., 4600-block of 47A Street: Three unlocked vehicles were entered by unknown persons overnight. Items stolen, valued at $100, include an iPod and FM transmitter. No suspects.

. February 3, 2: 34 a.m., 5800-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Ten youths were reported to be in the fast food restaurant with a street sign and a real estate board. Police attended and found an intoxicated youth with both signs and transported him home to his father.

The youth returned to the appropriate locations to reinstall the signs. No charges recommended.

. February 3, 9: 44 a.m., 5200-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Clerk in shoe store observed two females put three pairs of shoes in their backpack and attempt to leave the store without paying. When police attended the suspects were remorseful and apologetic.

As a result, the complainant requested no charges be laid. The suspects were transported home and released to their parents.

. February 3, 12: 35 p.m., 4700-block of 66th Street: Police responded to a call that someone had broken into a residence and the complainant had locked herself in the bathroom. Police arrived and arrested a suspect and a passenger in a running vehicle with a large quantity of stolen property.

Tsawwassen

. January 28, 6: 21 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: A customer in the super-market selected a basket of goods valued at $1,200 and fled the store without payment. An employee provided police with a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle on Highway 17 and located the stolen goods as well as a small amount of drugs.

The driver and his passenger were arrested. A roadside suspension was issued, his driver's licence seized and the vehicle impounded.

. January 31, 1: 34 p.m., 800-block of 53A Street: When the complainant returned from shopping she found an attempt had been made to break into her residence by breaking the doorframe. No entry gained.

. February 1, 12: 01 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: A hit-and-run was reported in the parking lot. When police arrived the suspect had fled the area on foot and was later located at his residence. He was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters before being released on a promise to report to court at a future date.

Impaired driving charges are pending.

. February 2, 11: 30 a.m., 1800-block of 56th Street: Complainant left his $600 electronic tablet in the seating area of the fast food restaurant while he went to the counter to order his food. When he returned to his table the tablet was missing. Police will examine video surveillance for a possible suspect.

. February 4, 1: 47 a.m., 5500-block of 1st Avenue: When police responded to a call that someone was attempting to break into the back door of the residence, officers found an extremely intoxicated female.
