Construction is nearing completion on the Tsawwassen Mills shopping complex.

Tsawwassen Mills is holding another big job fair, this time in South Delta.

Ivanhoe Cambridge, the developer behind the destination shopping mall opening in less than two months at the Tsawwassen First Nation, announced this week it’s hosting a hiring fair Thursday, Aug. 18 at Tsawwassen Springs, located across from the new mall.

The event, taking place from 1 to 7 p.m., is the second big job fair being held by the company, having hosted one several weeks ago in downtown Vancouver.

A long list of retailers, including the likes of Michael Kors Outlet and Sport Chek, as well as restaurants are participating in the event as the mall is looking for around 3,000 employees.

This week the company also announced 133 new retailers, including B.C.'s first Lululemon outlet store, for the 1.2 million square foot shopping centre set to open Oct. 5.

"We are very excited about the high-quality, diverse mix of retailers we have assembled for Tsawwassen Mills. With even more to come over the next two months, there will be something for every shopping taste at Tsawwassen Mills," said Roman Drohomirecki, CEO and executive vice-president of Ivanhoé Cambridge Retail in a press release.

The company says construction is nearing completion on the interior décor of the shopping centre, and work is underway to customize many of the stores. The parking lot is fully paved and the mall's main entrances are nearly finished.

Located just off Highway 17A and 52nd Street, the mall will have 200 stores including 16 anchors. It will be mostly a fashion oriented centre with a mix of outlet and other retailers, but it will also have a wide range of other products and services. Also having a 1,100-seat food hall, the indoor mall will sit next door to Tsawwassen Commons, a 550,000-square-foot outdoor shopping centre with approximately 100 tenants, including Walmart, Canadian Tire and Rona. The two malls will have a combined footprint almost identical to Metrotown. The retailers at the Commons will be opening in phases a few weeks after the Mills grand opening.
