You have my ear, Joe Suica. Thanks for speaking out.

I, too, have been waiting since I helped build the George Massey Tunnel in 1957-1959 for it to get the respect it deserves in proper lighting.

According to the recent letter to the editor by Doug Massey, it was stated the tunnel designing engineers had given instructions at the time of completion to place white tile on the walls and it should be kept clean plus good lighting which would reflect the true tunnel as a masterpiece of engineering.

It appears the powers that be at that time did not heed their advice so to save a few bucks they treated the tunnel with total disrespect as seen by how it has been neglected over the years.

I trust someone will give their head a shake and do the right thing to give the tunnel the respect it deserves. Brighten it up so we can reduce accidents and enjoy the tunnel for many years to come after they upgrade it.
