Delta Gymnastics’ high school program has once again produced outstanding results at the recent B.C. Secondary Schools Championships, hosted by Windsor Secondary.
The South Delta Sun Devils and Delta Pacers finished sixth and seventh respectively in the overall team standings. The Sun Devils also placed second in the girls division and topped all teams in Level 5 Girls.
Impressive individual results included Southpointe Academy’s Kaiya Show finishing sixth all-around in Level One Junior.
All the student athletes are part of Delta Gymnastics’ co-ed high school program designated for Grades 7-12 and accommodates beginners to the elite level. The program is coordinated by Jenn Watts and also includes coaches Tessa Neufeld, Chris Sheremeta, Jasmine McLean, Shannon Davis and Thorstein Fischer. It runs from September to June and is also ideal for cross-training to compliment other sports.
The continued success and reputation has led to students coming from outside of Delta to the club. This year’s training group included gymnasts from McMath, Richmond Christian, Tamanawis and Semiahmoo.
Here is a complete rundown of all 31 who participated at provincials. Delta Secondary Sarah Powell and Sarah Chan were also recipients of $2600 and $700 graduating bursaries.
