Ladner Minor Baseball has been selected to host B.C. Baseball's PeeWee AAA (U13) Provincial Championships from July 27-30.
There will be 10 teams from throughout the province coming to play at the Cromie Park and Maple Crescent Park diamonds.
As the host association, Ladner receives an automatic berth into the 10-team tournament. The remaining nine spots will be determined through playing a short summer season.
The format at provincials will see the teams split into two pools and play round-robin games over three days. The top two teams from each pool will crossover to play the semi-finals on June 30. The championship game goes later that day.
The winner will represent B.C. Baseball in San Diego at the Triple Crown Sports Summer Sizzle 13U Tournament later in August.
Officiating for the tournament is organized by the B.C. Baseball Umpire Association and will create an opportunity for some of the Lower Mainland's best young umpires to start their officiating path to higher level baseball and to work with seasoned national level umpires.
The Ladner Minor Baseball Association will have concession facilities at both parks and expect that the teams that are coming to town will also take advantage of the local shops and restaurants.
Running a tournament requires a lot of work in the background prior to the event. A local committee has been working hard for the past three months to create a memorable experience for the participants and supporters.
Sponsorship opportunities continue to be available as does the opportunity to volunteer during the tournament.
