The University of the Fraser Valley women’s soccer team has rounded out its recruiting class by signing North Delta standout Jashan Sandhar.

Head coach Rob Giesbrecht’s program now has commitments from nine Class of 2018 athletes, having previously announced two groups of recruits – six from the Fraser Valley and two form Calgary.

“Jashan is a skilful attacking player and we are thrilled she has chosen to attend UFV and be a part of the Cascades women’s soccer program,” Giesbrecht said. “Her pace and ability to beat defenders one v. one will allow her to transition well to U SPORTS soccer.”

The North Delta Secondary student brings a great deal of foot speed and skill to the pitch.

“I chose to attend UFV not only because of their excellent soccer team, but also because of their great Human Kinetics program,” Sandhar said. “In the future I wish to pursue a career as a chiropractor, and I think starting off at UFV will be very beneficial. My biggest goal for my time as a future Cascade is to win the national championship, and also to create many new friendships along the way.”

The Cascades women’s soccer program has qualified for the Canada West post-season six straight years, and has made two trips to the U SPORTS championships. They finished third in the nation in 2010 and fourth in 2014.
