Ladner Red Sox celebrate their thrilling 8-7 win over White Rock at Cromie Park to capture the 13U Pee Wee AA playoff championship.

The Ladner Red Sox capped an outstanding season in thrilling fashion, edging the White Rock Tritons 8-7 to win B.C. Baseball’s 13U Pee Wee AA Interlock League playoff championship.

The Red Sox rolled through their spring schedule with a 15-1 record. Their opponent in the playoff final happened to be the only team to hand them a defeat.

Enjoying home diamond advantage at Cromie Park, Ladner saw its early 3-2 lead evaporate when the Tritons Silver scored four runs in the in the fourth inning. The hosts responded with three of their own and it was deadlocked at 6-6 after five innings.

White Rock made it 7-6 in its half of the sixth and clung to the advantage heading into the Red Sox’s final at bats in the bottom of the seventh. 

That’s when the locals thrilled their supporters as Quincy Chong tied the game with a home run and Jaren Yamaoka followed with a double off the centre field fence. Brady McDonald then drove him home to cap the comeback in walk-off fashion.
