Delta police are looking for help in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run over the weekend.
At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a young woman was walking with a group of friends on 80th Avenue at 116th Street in North Delta when a motorist hit her.
The woman was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle as a dark metallic blue 2009 Mazda 3, which was seen fleeing northbound on 116th Street.
Officers searched the area following the incident and eventually located the car in Surrey near 100th Avenue and 130th Street. Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance, and at one point made contact with the car in an attempt to stop the driver, who was last seen fleeing eastbound on 100th Avenue.
The car sustained significant damage to its windshield, left front and rear fenders and the right front passenger area.
The incident is still being looked at and investigators are asking anyone with information about the crash, or has knowledge of the vehicle's whereabouts, to contact the Delta Police Department at 604-946-4411 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
