A pedestrian is in hospital in serious condition after an incident on Highway 17 Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the new overpass between Ladner and Tsawwassen.

Traffic was diverted and the highway was shut down to allow an air ambulance to land.

Delta police spokesperson A/Sgt. Paul Eisenzimmer said the highway was reopened about two hours later.
