The local man critically injured in a crash on Ladner Trunk Road over the weekend has died.

Delta police spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan confirmed that the man died on Monday evening.

Police have not yet released his name.

The single vehicle crash occurred at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 5500-block of Ladner Trunk Road. Police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

The man was heading east on Ladner's main thoroughfare when the crash occurred. He was ejected from the truck and sustained serious head injuries, police said.

He was in intensive care before succumbing to his injuries in the early evening hours.

Police had Ladner Trunk Road closed to traffic between 54A and 57th Streets for several hours Saturday morning as officers investigated the crash.
