The Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club will be sporting some improvements next season thanks to a federal government grant.
On Wednesday morning, Delta-Richmond East MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay visited the lawn bowling club to announce $13,000 in federal funding to improve the club's facilities.
"The Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club greatly appreciates the support from the Government of Canada to our lawn bowling green upgrading project," said club president David Fredericksen. "The project will allow us to enhance the safety and longevity of our lawn bowling green, which is used by hundreds of South Delta residents each year."
The group plans to use the money, which is being matched by the club, to remove and replace the side boards and cap the trough surrounding the green.
Fredericksen said the club also has plans to extend a partial brick pathway around the green and renovate equipment sheds.
The grant is made available under the government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, which supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure that is available to the public.
"By improving local facilities such as the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club, we are helping to boost economic activity while providing a strong foundation for continued growth," Findlay said.
"With today's investment, our government is demonstrating our commitment to creating jobs, growth and long-term economic prosperity."
